Fibrominn Reaches Agreement over Minnesota Start-up Issues
Fibrominn, the nation’s first power plant fueled by poultry litter, has reached an agreement with the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) regarding environmental issues largely associated with the plant’s initial startup and early operation. The agreement announced earlier today by the MPCA indicates that Fibrominn has corrected these past issues related to emissions and the testing, monitoring and reporting of emissions.
The Fibrominn plant has been operating well within its permit limits and has put in place operations and management practices to improve future operations.
As part of the agreement, Fibrominn has agreed to pay a $65,000 penalty and invest more than $80,000 to improve the plant’s continuous emissions monitoring system. More details about the agreement are available at the Fibrowatt website.
